Villa Jacque is located just outside the beautiful and historic village of Mougins, only 6km from the glamorous Cannes and the stunning coastline of the Côte d’Azur.
Famous for its art and restaurants, Mougins is a traditional slice of life in the French Riviera. With its fabulous views overlooking the bay of Cannes and picture-perfect old town, Mougins has everything you need for a vacation to remember. The renowned dining destination is home to a multitude of Michelin starred restaurants within the village centre, as well as many other cafes and local dining options. Also known for its connection to the art world, there are several art galleries and workshops to visit – including the MACM Classic Art Museum with works by former Mougins residents Picabia, Cocteau, and Picasso.
The hills around the village are ideal for soaking up the sunshine – spend a morning hiking or pony trekking through the nearby forests or play a round of golf at one of Mougins’ two beautifully-kept courses.
The Parc de Valmasque to the east of Mougins is the perfect spot for leisurely afternoon strolls and picnics thanks to its shady trees and 20km of footpaths to explore. The nearby Etang de Fontmerle is an enormous natural pond and home to Europe’s largest collection of lotus plants, a real must-see in summer when the flowers look and smell heavenly.
If a dose of glitz and glamour is your scene, Cannes is a short car journey away. For a chance to bump into some big spenders, Boulevard de la Croisette is the street to wander through. One of the most iconic stretches in France, it measures a mile long and is lined with luxury boutiques shaded by towering palm trees and superb sandy beaches to sink your toes into.
Move further inland and you’ll find beautiful countryside dotted with lavender fields and olive groves. Take a day trip to Grasse, the perfume capital of the world, and design your own scent to take home, or continue on to the small hillside village of Opio for delicious locally produced olive oil.
No trip to the Côte d’Azur is complete without spending some time lounging on its famous sandy beaches. There are a number to choose from – from Plage de la Bocca to Plage du Casino – but whichever option you pick, you’ll enjoy stunning views and crystal-clear waters.
